Try and try, again

So, because of some training coming up in April, I have to take my vacation time in February. It works out okay though, since I am able to take it during School's Winter Recess which also happens to be my anniversary week.

I decided to try to start the week off right by attempting to cook dinner for Mi Cariño.

Variation on a theme, really. White rice with corn, cabbage and carrot salad, stewed eggplant, maduros, black bean patty, and banana. The rice was a little low on salt, and as I always I was very insecure about the results but Mi Cariño assured me that it was good and tasty and well, we devoured all of it, so I guess we enjoyed it. Let the awesome anniversary week begin!

Amor y Amistad

I love that in the Dominican Republic Valentine's Day is known as the day of love and friendship. Because love is not just about romantic feelings - there's familial love and friendly love, and just as it's important to cultivate romantic love, familial and friendly love needs to be worked at, too.

That said, Mi Cariño sent me this

And I was reminded of why we're together. Gotta love her originality. Gotta love her in general. She also knows that we all just get "by with the help of [our] friends."
